Volunteers Church Parade and Raffles, 1902

It is possible a Church parade of the Volunteers will be held tomorrow morning at St Matthew's. Should this be the case, seat-holders on the vestry side will be asked to kindly allow their seats to be reserved for members of the Company attending. Special hymns will be chosen for the occasion.

The Church of England has done well of late years in discountenancing the custom of raffling in connection with her work. Not a single farthing for the last five years has been raised for St. Matthew's Church by the questionable means of raffling. There exists a Bible in Australia with a girl's name in, under which is written, "Won by casting dice in St. Ives Church, Huntingdonshire, 1767."
